i know this is the first date but
maybe we should move in together
skip all the preliminaries do you
ever really know a person
let’s fast forward through the part where we
tell each other about our parents
statistically we can guess we are
both children of divorce so we might just
leave it at that
your low energy matches mine and i really like
your jacket we can
share most of our shirts
promise to drop all our bad habits
neither of us will cut
their toenails outside the bathroom and
we will pick up all the hair
shed by us or our respective pets
who will get along fantastically and if
they don’t then we can split
speed up the whole opening act
and the awkward middle bits
wouldn’t it be fun to try
to trust a person with your heart
before you know what that entails
bring in your cat your watercolour art
and i will promise not to laugh
i know this is our first date but
you like coke zero i have
migraines at night
what do you say to that being enough
to last us a lifetime
