Watched this mid-September 2021, when I came home for the weekend between stints in another city for an internship.
It’s so good! Very very Wes Anderson, and also very popular - I posted it on BeReal, and so many people said they’ve seen it and loved it.
It is a significant departure from the source material of Dahl’s book, which is, frankly, a masterpiece, and only a few details have remained, but it’s brilliant nevertheless.
The animation style is pretty unique, and it’s gorgeous, the SFX and movement styles, and the expressions even - it must have taken years though! It’s so detailed.
I love the way they just put the word ‘cuss’ whenever there was an actual cuss, like ‘what the cuss’ and stuff like that.
And, of course, I recognised the memes.
Really good movie!
