I watched this on the plane from India on the 3rd of September, 2024.
It’s an old movie, and has the set-up which is like catnip to me of taking a bunch of old friends and keeping them in a house for the weekend so we get the conversations and character play.
The characters were all done really well, with some sparkling dialogue and really effective nuance-based storytelling. It was quite funny, and the overall aesthetic contributed a lot (although I don’t doubt that was unintentional, I think it has quite the default for the 1980s).
The plot was somewhat lacking, but I didn’t mind that because of the sheer joyfulness and thought put into the script writing.
It was a little dated, and such character studies have come a long way, but overall a charming watch.
