17776 is an absolutely brilliant long-form webfiction which blends visual and textual storytelling to explore the nature of humanity in the distant future, after an unexplained event renders us immortal. It centres on three spacecraft, observing the Earth, and specifically the monstrously complex and inventive games of American football that humans occupy themselves with. These spacecraft are Nine, Ten and JUICE — they’re characterised far beyond what you’d expect of three ageing spacecraft, and you develop real affection towards them by the end.
There’s a sequel, at 20020.
